Safety Warning
BEFORE carrying out the installation, you must switch off the ISA device AND disconnect the IEC power lead mains inlet on the rear panel
Caution
- Remove the ISA from any rack enclosure and place it on a clean, flat surface.
- Allow the ISA to cool before removing the top cover.
- When you remove the ISA ADN card from its anti-static bag, take anti-static precautions when you handle the card. Only grip the ADN card's edges to avoid touching any component parts other than the cable or connector.
Guides
The ISA ADN cards are optional A-D cards that provide analogue-to-digital conversion for select ISA products. The cards offer Dante output ports, AES3 output, Toslink ADAT output RCA S/PDIF (ADN2) output and Word Clock I/O.
To check if your ISA preamp supports the installation of an ISA ADN card please see the following article:
What ISA Products can I use the ISA ADN2/8 cards with?
This article has video installation guides as well as written instructions.
If you would prefer to follow instructions from the User Guide, please find this in various languages on our downloads page here:
1. For the ISA One, remove the top cover. There are 10 crosshead screws fixing the top cover to the ISA:
- Three on each side.
- Four on the back edges.
Be careful removing this cover, as on some ISA One models there is an Earth cable attached to the lid. Looking at the rear panel, the earthing cable is attached to the left-hand side of the top cover (annotated above).
2. Undo the 3 screws and remove the blanking plate. Retain the screws, you will use them to secure the digital cardto the rear panel. The blanking plate can be discarded.
3. Position the card into the ISA so that its ribbon cable points towards the PCB plug below the card.
Align the three mounting holes in the card with the holes in the brackets below and loosely fit the screws supplied with the kit. Refit the screws retained from the blanking plate into the rear of the card and then fully tighten all screws.
4. The PCB mounted ribbon plug is fitted with two mating latches. With the latches fully apart, press the ISA ADN connector down in place until the latches click closed.
5. Place the top cover back onto the ISA. Refit the screws, starting with the sides, making sure not to pinch the earth safety strap against the A-D card.
6. Now refit the 2 screws retained from the blanking plate into the rear of the ISA, where the card is placed.
7. Refit the remaining 4 screws on the edges of the rear of the ISA.
8. When you first switch on the ADN card, it may require a firmware update. Firmware updates are handled automatically in RedNet Control application.
Please note, this video shows an ISA 428 MkII, the same process is applicable for an ISA 828 MkII.
1. Remove the 11 crosshead screws fixing the top cover to the top and sides of the ISA. Be careful removing the top cover, as on some ISA 428 Mk2 and ISA 828 Mk2 models, there is an Earth cable attached to the top cover lid so be careful when removing the lid.
2. Undo the 2 screws holding in a blanking plate. Retain the screws you will use them to secure the digital card onto the rear panel. The blanking plate can be discarded.
3. Position the card into the ISA so that its ribbon cable points towards the PCB plug.
Align the two mounting holes at the rear of the card with the holes in the brackets below and loosely fit two of the screws supplied with the kit. Refit the screws you retained from the blanking plate through into the rear of the card and then fully tighten all screws.
You will install the 3rd screw, supplied with the kit, through the top cover.
4. The PCB mounted ribbon plug is fitted with two mating latches. With the latches fully apart, press the A-D connector down until the latches click closed.
5. To replace the top cover: Refit the 11 screws. Take care not to pinch the safety earth strap (yellow) against the A-D card.
6. Install the supplied screw through the top cover.
7. Initialise the ISA 428/828 MkII to recognise the ISA ADN A-D card. To do this: Hold down any of the front panel switches and then switch on power to the ISA. Once the front panel illuminates, release the switch– the digital card will now be active.
8. When you first switch on the ADN card, it may require a firmware update. Firmware updates are handled automatically in RedNet Control application.
