Applies to: RedNet R1, Red 4Pre/8Pre/8Line/16Line
When using an R1 in conjunction with a Red the signal level coming out of analogue outputs on the Red is affected by the volume controls on both the R1 and the Red (digital outputs will be affected by the volume control on the R1 only).
You can think of the volume control on the R1 as being placed before the analogue volume controls for the Red, with the controls on the Red therefore dictating the maximum level. This being the case, we'd advise the following procedure:
- Set the control(s) for the analogue output(s) on the Red to minimum (either in RedNet Control or using the front panel)
- Set the volume control on the R1 to maximum
- Play a test signal through the Red
- Slowly increase the volume on the Red until you reach the maximum loudness level that you'd like coming from your speakers/headphones
- Use the volume dial and/or dim control on the R1 to back off from this level
You can now use the R1 as your main volume controller.
